Case study: The Hole in Wand

York’s most magical crazy golf attraction, the Hole in Wand is located in Coppergate, in the heart of the city centre.

The Hole in the Wand includes nine indoor crazy golf holes, with magic touches including bubbling cauldrons, magical portals, and a giant picture frame where you become part of the painting. The attraction was struggling with slow and unreliable internet, getting a download speed of only 12 Mbps!

Fast and reliable broadband is essential for customers to get the full magic experience, with key features including the picture wall and credit card machines being totally reliant on the connection.

With its existing connection, the team were having to upload photos from the attraction onto a server overnight, before being able to share with their customers the next day – which was frustrating and reduced the customer experience, as well as limiting their social media activity.

No longer wanting to be stuck with buffering and drop-outs, the Hole in Wand made the switch to Fastr Broadband in May 2024 and the difference has been huge!

Now visitors and the team can enjoy symmetrical download and upload speeds of 1000 Mbps all over the attraction! Customers’ photos can now be instantly downloaded so visitors can quickly upload photos onto their social media pages of their great experience and spread the word further.

The Hole in Wand recently won the Traveller’s Choice award from Tripadvisor, a fantastic representation of the attraction’s fantastic and improved customer experience.
