Lounge 46 Serves Great Coffee, Cocktails – and Fast Wi-Fi
Lounge 46 is a coffee shop and cocktail bar on Walmgate in York, owned by Joe Moore. The venue sits in a popular dining area, and Joe designed it as a welcoming place where customers can stop in for a coffee and cake during the day or enjoy cocktails before or after dinner nearby.
From the start, Joe wanted Lounge 46 to feel relaxed, social and well connected, a place where customers feel comfortable staying a while.
The Challenge
Before switching to Fastr Broadband, Lounge 46 relied on a copper connection from BT. The service was slow, unreliable and struggled whenever several customers tried to connect at the same time.
“Customers want fast Wi-Fi,” Joe explains. “If it doesn’t work properly, they don’t come back.”
The slow connection affected repeat daytime trade in particular, especially customers who wanted to work on laptops while enjoying coffee. Complaints were common, and the experience didn’t match the atmosphere Joe wanted to create.
Joe had already tried multiple providers, including BT and Virgin, but found that speeds and customer service consistently fell short.
The Switch to Fastr

Beyond One Business
Joe has since had Fastr Broadband installed at other premises he owns, including holiday lets and rental properties. In total, he manages 12 properties, including six holiday flats, and values the consistency of service across all of them.
“Price wasn’t the main issue. It was about the service for café customers, holiday lets and students. Billing is easy, customer service is great, and it just works.”
